Courses & Grading
Progress at London Karate School follows a clear path. Each term we run two Karate Courses to build and sharpen technique, followed by two Grading Days where students are formally assessed and progress to their next kyu grade. Attendance is tracked through our student management system, so you'll always know when you're eligible for your next grading. Class instructors will let you know in advance when booking opens for the current term's courses and grading days, and dates and booking links are published below.
Karate Courses
Courses are held twice a term and focus on refining the technique, kata and kumite skills covered in regular lessons. They're open to all grades and give students focused practice time outside the normal class structure, often with guest instruction or a concentrated look at material relevant to upcoming gradings. Places are limited and booked in advance.

Karate Grading
Grading Days are where students are formally assessed and awarded their next kyu grade. Eligibility is based on attendance and instructor recommendation, tracked automatically through our booking system, so you'll be notified when you're ready to book. Gradings are run by senior instructors and follow the Shukokai syllabus for each belt level.
